Racism In UK

I recently travelled to Liverpool in England. On my trip there, I realized that racism against dark skinned/black people was very evident. I had a run in with someone in a grocery store that scared me half to death. I'm dark skinned. The man made me know in no uncertain terms that I did not belong there. I'm too black, I'm not qualified. Being a Jamaican, I knew the repercussions if I got in an altercations with a citizen, so I immediately left my cart and left the store. Have you ever experienced this in the UK? How did you deal with it?
